What would happen if I delete all temporary Internet Files?

Asked by: 48 views Computer Security

I’m cleaning out my computer and my temporary internet files seems to be quite large… I also watch a lot of p0rn (lol)

If I delete C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files will anything detrimental happen?

Nothing, really. Temporary files are created so that they don’t have to be downloaded when you visit the site the next time, but instead can be loaded from your hard drive. Websites will take slightly longer to load after you clear your temporary files, but that’s it. It’s good practice to do this every once in a while, because you build up a lot of temporary files for websites you don’t visit often.

NEVER delete these system files manually. Often it will leave some trapped because their names are too long, or in some cases can corrupt files. Also if you accidentally delete a system folder it can make the machine unusable. There are safe tools for that. If you want one tool for all cleaning and registry fixes use ccleaner.exe from http://piriform.com
