Is there a tech support company that will remove viruses for free?

Asked by: 185 views Computer Security

So I have some viruses on my computer and I called a bunch of tech support companies and they were all willing to remove the viruses but they were all gonna charge me upwards of $ 150, now I’m a college student and barely have enough money to feed me for the week. So I’m not looking for a company that will do it cheap, I want it completely free. I don’t know if that’s too much to ask because I don’t know a lot about these types of things.
P.s.
Don’t tell me about some antivirus that I can download for free, those things have never worked for me as you can see because my computer is infected.

P.S. then you will pay 150$ a technician that this is exactly what he will do……

    use this: http://devbuilds.kaspersky-labs.com/devbuilds/RescueDisk/

this is a bootable CD download andburn it on a different computer and boot infected PC and follow on-screen instruction. It will cost you the price of a blank CD

There’s no such thing as 100% protection, but…

    Try this:

Firstly, boot your computer to the Safe Mode menu screen. You do this by repeatedly pressing F8 as soon as you boot up. Once there, use the arrow keys to highlight Safe Mode with Networking. Continue to boot from there, by pressing Enter. You will now see some drivers being loaded. There will be a pause at some point. This usually lasts for no more than 30 seconds.

If that’s successful, download and run TDSSKiller.exe from Kaspersky Lab. It’s tiny, and takes just a minute to run. It hunts down and kills a specific family of rootkits:

Regardless of the results, download the free version of Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware (MBAM). Install it, get updates and run a full scan (still in Safe Mode). This is a direct download link. Copy and paste it into your browser’s address bar, and press Enter.

After that, boot normally and run another full scan with MBAM. It will detect any malware that wasn’t running in Safe Mode.

If the problem still exists, download and run the free Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool:

    http://www.kaspersky.com/antivirus-removal-tool?form=1

You should now delete TDSSKiller.exe and the Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool, as updated versions are often made available. Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware can be easily uninstalled, should you wish to do so, but it may prove to be beneficial in the future.

    As for long-term protection…

I have the free versions of Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware and Avast Antivirus installed. They won’t conflict, so long as you don’t attempt to scan with both products simultaneously.

As soon as you’ve installed them, start them and get updates for the virus definitions.

If you’ve followed my suggestion, you already have MBAM installed.

Here’s a link to the free version of Avast Antivirus:

    Hope this helps.

You can just re-install your operating system. If you format the disk first, that will likely get rid of the viruses.
