I have a virus on my USB. How do I get rid of it?

I have a virus on my USB that changed my files into shortcuts.
When I clicked it a command prompt came up and I quickly closed.
After that I turned of “Show hidden files and folders” and deleted that shortcut and a hidden folder called ‘RECYCLER’
My USB had a bunch of important files on it. How can I Get my files back and get rid of the virus?
I have Norton 360 and Windows 7 x64.
