How do I get rid of an annoying “search enhance” popup?

Asked by: 350 views Computer Security

I have contracted an annoying “popup ????” that occurs every time I enter a search item in Amazon or Ebay. A window title “search enhancer” pops up giving me the option of searching the web or searching the site. I don’t know if this is friend or foe, but I am reluctant to use it, don’t desire to use it, don’t need to use it. Can someone tell me if there is a way I can find this somewhere in my computer and delete it?

There is step by step walkthrough for removing the annoying “search enhancer” add on here: http://www.fasterpccleanclean.com/remove-search-enhancer

If you have problems with the manual remove instructions then try the free Spybot S&D utility from here, that should auto detect it and allow you to remove it. http://www.safer-networking.org/en/home/index.html

If neither of these methods remove it totally then you may have to download HijackThis. Run the utility and then post the results onto the online forum where one of their experts will help you: http://www.trendmicro.co.uk/products/free-tools-and-services/

What Internet browser are you using?

    Try these steps:
    1. Try using a different browser ,if your’re using IE, try using Mozilla Firefox or Chrome.
    2. If issue is still the same, boot the system in safe mode with networking, check if issue persists.
    3. Disable startup items using msconfig
    4. Reboot your computer in normal mode.

    Check if issue persists.
