AVG finds rootkits but can’t remove them?

Asked by: 462 views Computer Security

I have friend who has AVG 2012 FREE (up-to-date and everything) with a Windows Vista Home Premium computer.

AVG finds three rootkits on his system. They all say . The “infections” are as follows:

“Service function NtMapViewOfSection hook -> 0×95118540″ || Result: Object is hidden
“Service function NtCreateThreadEx hook -> 0x9514EB00″ || Result: Object is hidden
“Service function NtAlpcConnectPort hook -> 0×95073490″ || Result: Reboot is required to finish the action

I rebooted it and yet it still won’t get rid of them. (the one that says “reboot required”)

I have ran AVG as an admin and as regular user, and it will not remove them, just saying “operation failed”. What can I do to get rid of them?

How Others Found Here:

  • ntalpcconnectport hook
  • service function ntalpcconnectport hook
  • how to remove Service function NtAlpcConnectPort hook

    go here:

and go towards the bottom of the page and click the link that says:

download and install and do a full scan.

after it cleans your computer, i recommend you get a better antivireus for your computer. Kaspersky is a really good program.

Try one scan in SAFE MODE. This keeps most of these files unlocked compared with normal mode. Better option it to download the free scanner from http://malwarebytes.org and run the full scan.
