Avast free or Microsoft Security Essentials?

Asked by: 50 views Computer Security

I searched around Y! answers and I think most preferred Avast.I currently have MSE,Spybot Search and Destroy, Superantispyware free, malwarebytes free and sandboxie installed. (though I’m not too sure how to use sandboxie) Please provide at least a short explanation or comparison between the two.
Also, would any of the programs I listed conflict with each other?

Neither. AVG free is the best anti virus software out there.

    Avg is better than both.
I tested avg and avast on a virtual machine yesterday and avast failed the test.
Avg detected 89% of the viruses and
    Avast 76%

You should remove a couple of those anti-virus programs you have installed. You shouldn’t have more than one anti-virus program installed onto your computer because it’s going to bog it down.

As for having an anti-virus, I’d go with Avast! It’s probably the best free anti-virus out there. I had AVG before and when I went to uninstall it, I couldn’t. Some pop-up kept popping up and driving me nuts. It wasn’t a virus, either. It was AVG being annoying trying to convince me to stay with it. I would get rid of MSE and get avast! ASAP!
